‘Bella Armonia’ is a mixed ensemble of woodwind, strings and piano, performing original works and arrangements of music from many different eras and styles. The group has performed together for several years, but was formally named ‘Bella Armonia’ in the summer of 2015 after a series of concerts around the Southampton area. Their repertoire includes Baroque music by Vivaldi, Telemann and other composers, as there are many baroque pieces written for (or adaptable for) this particular combination of instruments. In contrast, Bella Armonia also arranges lighter music for their use, including Ketelby’s ‘In a Persian Market’ and Leroy Anderson’s ‘Sleigh Ride’, as well as ballet music from ‘Tchaikovsky’s ‘Nutcracker Suite’ and ‘Swan Lake’. The ensemble are constantly expanding their repertoire by creating their own arrangements.
